MY STORY
Hi, I’m Emmah Kwamboka, and welcome to Path 360 Beyond Borders!
I’ve been debating whether or not to share my thoughts and feelings on this platform. But then I thought—why not? Okay, I know, I know—the name might give off cult vibes, but hear me out. It’s not a cult. (Though, let’s face it, all great movements sound a little like cults at first—just ask any yoga studio, startup founder, or health drinks movement. They’re always “life-changing” and “good for your mind, body, and soul”—until you realize you’ve spent half your paycheck on chia seeds and adaptogens.)
Jokes aside, Path 360 Beyond Borders is about creating a space where curiosity, creativity, and entrepreneurial potential come together to build something meaningful. I’ve been debating whether or not to share my thoughts and feelings on this platform. But then I thought—why not? After all, if you’re here, you’re probably just as curious about life, career, and the winding roads of entrepreneurship as I am.
Before diving into why I started this initiative, let me give you a bit of background about myself. Spoiler alert: my career path has been as linear as a toddler learning to draw straight lines.
Growing up, I was that person who wanted to try everything. I’d read about new skills, dive into projects that piqued my interest, and dream about the next adventure before finishing the current one. Specializing in one thing? Not me. My CV looks like a buffet—there’s a bit of everything! If you’re curious, you can check it out for reference.
Now, if you’re like me, you’ve probably experienced the same dilemma when it comes to job interviews. That dreaded question: “What are you good at?” My honest response has always been, “Everything.” Or sometimes, “I can do it all!” But that doesn’t exactly scream “hire me.”
Worse still, if you’re too good at many things, you might hear, “You’re overqualified.” Overqualified? That’s like telling a Swiss Army knife, “Sorry, we only need a fork.”
Then, one day, I stumbled upon a term that perfectly described me: multipotentialite. (Fancy, right?) It’s a term for people whose interests span multiple fields or areas rather than sticking to just one specialty. It was like finding a mirror that finally reflected the real me—curious, versatile, and always ready for the next challenge.
Armed with this realization, I started to understand why my career path meandered from IT specialist to project manager and eventually beyond. I loved working on multiple projects, exploring new ideas, and solving a variety of problems. It all made sense: multipotentialites thrive in dynamic environments, especially startups and entrepreneurial ventures.
Fast forward to today, after working across industries and eventually settling in Germany for my studies, I hit my next big challenge: being an immigrant in a structured labor market.
If you’ve read the Wikipedia entry on multipotentialites, you’ll know the struggles of fitting into rigid systems. Now, add the challenges of navigating life as an immigrant in Germany, and you get a cocktail of frustration, resilience, and…some hilarious lost-in-translation moments.
But these experiences taught me something powerful. They helped me see the gaps in support systems for immigrants who, like me, have so much potential but struggle to find the right opportunities. And that’s why I started Path 360 Beyond Borders—to create a community, an ecosystem, and a support system for people with big dreams, versatile skills, and untapped potential.
So, here I am, sharing my story with you and hoping it resonates. Whether you’re an entrepreneur, a multipotentialite, an immigrant, or just someone who feels a little “different,” this platform is for you. Together, let’s navigate this journey, share our stories, and break boundaries.
Welcome to Path 360 Beyond Borders! Let’s build something extraordinary—together.
